What is Cabaret Night?
In our opinion, simply the best evening of the year in the Music Department! It is a dinner/dance with a cash bar that takes place at the Meadow Wood Manor in Randolph NJ . Traditionally it takes place in February and includes jazz performances by our talented music students. A 50/50 raffle fundraiser is held to support the Mendham Music Boosters.

Is student/parent participation mandatory?
This is not a school sponsored event, it is an extra curricular, optional event run and funded solely by the Music Boosters organization. Cabaret Night averages about 200 adults in attendance each year. It’s a wonderful evening to connect with your music family, friends and students. Often by the end of the night students, parents, and teachers are all out on the dance floor together. It’s a great way to support the music programs while having a wonderful evening out!

Who can come to Cabaret Night?
While Cabaret Night is advertised to music families, anyone is welcome to attend. The majority of the attendees are parents of the music students, but in the past we’ve had grandparents, administrators, alumni, private music teachers, former high school parents, and non-performing students join us. We do not recommend bringing children younger than 8th grade due to the way our seating works.

How is the seating done?
Adults sit in the main dining room with the dance floor, where the performances take place. Students sit and eat together in an adjacent room. Students may come into the main dining room at their leisure to watch their friends perform and to dance. The main dining room consists of tables that seat 10-12 people. Seating is prearranged by request. For those that don’t submit table requests, they will have a great opportunity to meet other families involved in the music department! Students have no reserved seating. This includes all non-performing Mendham High School students, unless they request otherwise. Everyone else, including students younger than high school age, will be seated in the main dining room with the adults and their ticket price will be at the adult rate.

What is the attire for Cabaret Night?
Dress as you would for a nice evening out – whatever that may be to you! Many people do dress up quite a bit, so if you have a great new dress or sport coat, you will certainly not be out of place at this event. If you prefer to be more casual, slacks/khakis and a button down or polo shirt are fine!

Is Cabaret Night a Fundraiser?

How does the 50/50 work?
50/50 tickets are available to purchase when you check in and while you are seated at your table. A final call for purchase is given before the winning ticket is pulled. You must still be at the event (or at least your ticket must be) to accept your prize. Due to NJ State Gambling regulations, anyone under the age of 18 cannot participate in the Silent Auction or 50/50.

My student is a performer, why do they have to pay?
Student performers receive a deeply discounted rate that does not cover the cost of their dinner. Students are able to use money from their Individual Student Music Account to pay for their ticket. Financial aid is available.
Why do non-performing students also pay a discounted rate?
We encourage all music students to come and support their friends who are performing. They are also allowed to pay for their ticket using funds from their Individual Student Music Account.
How many people usually attend Cabaret Night?
We average approximately 100 students and 200 adults for the event.
This sounds like a great event, I would love to get involved in the process – how can I do that?
We are always looking for help with the main event, and the on-site fundraisers. Please contact one of the Music Boosters presidents for more information.
